Dr Gary Tapper graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1984 and has been at Busselton Medical Practice since 1987. He was awarded Fellowship of the RACGP in 1993. He has a keen interest in sports medicine and is a member of Sports Medicine Australia. He is married and has three adult daughters. Away from work he and his wife Wendy enjoy an active sporting life, with an interest in water sports and triathlon.

Family medicine is a focus for Gary who has extensive experience across all ages and stages of life.

Dr Michael Massey has been at Busselton Medical Practice since arriving with his young family in 1998. He graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1990 and completed his General Practice training in 1996. Along the way he also completed a Diploma in Obstetrics and trained extensively in anaesthetics.

He is interested in all aspects of Family Medicine and enjoys the long term relationships he has formed over many years with his patients. He strongly believes that continuity of care is a very important part of quality General Practice. He has further trained in skin cancer medicine which is expanding part of his work.

In his spare time he can be found playing his guitar poorly and injuring himself with sporting pursuits. He currently bathes in the glory of being the Busselton Medical Practice Jetty Swim champion.

Dr Ken Barbour graduated MBBS with Honours from the University of Western Australia in 1996. He spent five years in the hospitals of Perth gaining post graduate experience in a wide variety of medical specialties. He spent several of those years training in different surgical disciplines, before moving to the United Kingdom and spending four years training as a rural General Practitioner in the beautiful Lake District.

He returned to Australia in 2006 and became a Fellow of the RACGP and joined the Busselton Medical Practice becoming a Partner.

He enjoys the full variety of Family Medicine across all age groups. He has undertaken Advanced training in dermoscopy (the detection and diagnosis of skin cancer) and skin cancer surgery (including advanced surgical procedures, which are done onsite in the practice’s theatre room for patients convenience).

Ken is married with 3 children and enjoys spending time with them in outdoor pursuits, such as hiking, running and cycling.

Dr Parker returns to us having completed his registrar training at the practice in 2018.  He graduated from the University of Leeds in 2011 and has been working in Western Australia since 2014.

His interests include paediatric medicine, mens health and performing minor procedures in the practice.  Along with working in general practice, he also works in the Emergency Dpeartment and also holds a qualification in anaesthetics.

Outside of work he can be found swimming, cycling and running (slowly) or enjoying the country with his young family.

Dr Danielle Clark graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1992 and moved to the Busselton Medical Practice in 1998 to complete her General Practice training. She loved it so much she stayed.

Dr Clark enjoys the broad nature of General Practice and treating people in all stages of life. She is interested in the role that lifestyle plays in physical and mental health, and has recently completed courses in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, and Exercise for Health and Performance with the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.

n addition to General Practice she has worked at the Busselton Hospital on the ward and the Emergency Department, and was a senior lecturer at the Rural Clinical School, teaching student doctors.

Danielle works part time and is married with 2 grown children. In her spare time she enjoys most sport, including trail running, mountain biking, aquatic sports and resistance training.

Dr Ingrid Hanemaaijer has been at Busselton Medical Practice since 2004. She studied medicine at UWA graduating in 1996. Ingrid enjoys the variety of all aspects of general practice and particularly appreciates the unique opportunity of being a part of so many people’s life journeys.

She lives with 3 teenage girls and a couple of cute dogs, and works for some part of the day 6 days per week. You may also catch glimpses of her participating in various performing arts around town, or enjoying many aspects of the great outdoors on land or sea.

Dr Jamie Coutts graduated from the University of Aberdeen with commendation in 1999. He initially worked at a variety of hospitals across the UK before spending 18 months travelling and working across Australia. It was during these travels and his time in Perth that he fell in love with South West WA.

He returned to Scotland to complete his GP training and gained MRCGP with distinction in 2004. He was a partner in a rural General Practice on the edge of the Scottish Highlands for 6 years.

Dr Coutts continued to feel drawn towards WA and joined Busselton Medical Practice in 2014. He is an experienced GP who enjoys all aspects of Family Medicine. He is passionate about the importance of continuity of care and thoroughly enjoys providing a comprehensive, holistic service to his patients. He has completed additional training in Mental Health including Alcohol Misuse.
He has extensive clinical interests which include chronic disease management (particularly diabetes and ischaemic heart disease) and the management of obesity-related issues.

Outside of work, Dr Coutts enjoys spending time with his family in the Great Australian Outdoors. He keeps fit by riding his road bike as often as he can and enjoys long walks with his dog.
He is an avid football (soccer) fan and is a long-suffering supporter of the Scotland National Team. When not plotting Scotland’s rise to World Football Domination, he will often be found coaching Junior soccer.

Dr Tamsin Coutts graduated in 2000 from the University of Nottingham, UK. Soon after this she spent 18 months working in Australia before returning to Scotland to continue her training. She initially harboured ambitions to be a Geriatrician, but once she realised she enjoyed looking after patients of all ages she moved over to General Practice. She spent time training in Paediatrics and continues to enjoy looking after children.

In 2014 Tamsin moved to WA and has since developed her interest and skills in sexual health and family planning, providing contraceptive services and encouraging sexual health check ups.

She is interested in Cancer care and being part of the multidisciplinary approach to a patient’s journey. She is also passionate about Palliative Care and has recently joined the Busselton Hospice Care Inc board, supporting the community to provide excellent end of life care and bereavement support.

Dr Laura Begley graduated from the University of Bristol, UK, in 2006 and completed the UK physician training in London in 2010. She moved to Australia with her husband in 2012. After a number of years in Perth and a year in New Zealand, she has now moved to the South-West with her young family. She returns to our practice having first worked here in 2014.

She has a special interest in adolescent health, women’s health (including Mirena’s), paediatrics and travel medicine, but enjoys the full breadth of General Practice.

In her spare time, she can mainly be found exercising her small children and her large dog. 

Dr Tom Bartlett graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2015 he is currently undergoing training with both the Australian College of Emergency Physicians and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Originally from Kalgoorlie his family have recently relocated to Busselton. Prior to working in Busselton he has spent time working in Perth Metropolitan Emergency departments, Albany and Derby. He enjoys all aspects of general practice and the diversity and continuity afforded as someone’s GP. His areas of interest are chronic disease management, men’s health, travel medicine and he is also undergoing further training in skin medicine.

When not at work you may find him swimming, cycling or hanging out with his wife, son, and their two labradors.

Dr Laura Quinn graduated from University College Dublin, Ireland in 2020. After 15 months working in a large city hospital during the peak of the covid pandemic, she relocated to Perth.

During the past few years, she has worked in many areas of medicine including Oncology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics and the Emergency department. She has also completed a diploma in clinical Dermatology and is currently pursuing a diploma in Child Health from the Western Sydney University.

Dr Quinn relocated to Busselton with her partner and began working in general practice in early 2024. She is enjoying the diversity of patient presentations and ages she encounters every day. She values the trust her patients place in her and strives to build strong compassionate relationships that foster open communications and mutual respect. With a natural curiosity, she thrives on unravelling puzzling patient presentations.

Outside of work, she is a parkrun enthusiast.
